Excitation Function Fluctuations for Dissipative Heavy Ion Collisions

  • Chapter
The Response of Nuclei under Extreme Conditions

Abstract

The nucleus-nucleus collisions, in the energy region of about 10 MeV/A, are characterized, as it is well known, by quasi-elastic and dissipative mechanisms. The former are generally associated with the presence of strongly populated peaks in the high energy side of the emitted fragment spectra; the second ones are revealed by large cross sections for transitions corresponding to low or intermediate outgoing energies.
