Abstract

The performance of outlets is better documented than that of spillways, because of the higher frequency and longer duration of outlet operation at or approaching design discharge. The record of operating experiences shows that certain problems are clearly the most severe and persistent. Most of these problems are associated with high-energy flow conditions, an area of investigation still in the developmental stage.
