Transient Spectrum of Two Level Atoms Interacting with Amplitude Modulated Intense Radiation

Abstract

It is well known that a two level atom interacting with a constant amplitude, resonant laser beam, emits radiation with a spectrum-popularly known as the Mollow’s triplet1. The theoretical calculations of the triplet spectrum assumes a steady state between the atom interacting with the laser beam and the relaxation processes. Eberly and Wodkiewicz2 have generalized the definition of spectrum to consider time dependent situations as well.
