Detection of Squeezed Light by Coherently Superposed Detector States

Abstract

A new type of photodetectors has been proposed by us recently1. They measure only the phase-sensitive cross products of field amplitudes pertaining to mutually orthogonal squeezed light (SL) and nearly coherent local-oscillator (LO) modes, without responding to the photon flux of each mode separately, in contrast to schemes based on conventional photocounters. 2,3
