Abstract
B. Wiant for the Westinghouse SSC Program Team. It is important that the inspections and tests performed during the manufacturing cycle of the SSC dipole magnets ensure performance, reliability and the lowest possible price to the customer. The degree of inspection and the level of testing can have a direct economical effect on the entire SSC magnet program. Therefore, careful planning for inspection and test must be done to ensure magnets that can be readily produce at reasonable costs. More importantly, the magnets must meet design requirements. How inspection planning helps achieve these goals is the subject of this paper.
