Abstract
A study using ellipsometry and tensiometry of nonionic surface active films at a water-silicone oil interface was undertaken to provide information on their structures. The variation in the ellipticity with the degree of coverage of the interface is attributed to the conformational changes. However, we stress the hypothesis according to which the specific structuring of the water by the oxyethylene groups could play a role in the optical properties of the interfacial layer.
