Mechanisms Of Altered Growth Regulation In Human Leukemia

  • Chapter
Cell Function and Disease

Abstract

The process of normal growth requires the orderly occurrence of many events such as interaction of (a) stimulatory growth factor(s) with its (their) own receptors(s), signals transmission throughout the cytoplasm and into the nucleus and finally DNA synthesis and cell division. In the hemopoietic system cell growth is tightly linked to terminal cell differentiation? as soon as the choice between self renewal and lineage commitment is made, terminally differentiated cells are generated throughout a limited number of cells divisions.
