Abstract

The paper is concerned with the capability of organizations to resolve the innovation/efficiency dilemma through expert intervention (Hall, 1984) and treats the wider societal diffusion of knowledges, including their definition as the context (Clark and Starkey, 1988; Clark and Staunton, 1989). The paper reviews the concept of social science intervention presented at the First Symposium and suggests a focus for this anniversary reflection.
