Abstract

We discuss the most significant basic components for generation and transmission of RF power in particle accelerators and storage rings of recent design, with emphasis on high duty factor or CW operation. Examples of super power klystron and tetrode amplifiers in the UHF and VHF ranges are presented. Some information is added on waveguides, on power combining and splitting devices, ferrite isolators and circulators, and on a variety of other components used in power transmission systems and accelerating structures. An idea about the cost per MW installed RF power emerges from HERA and LEP cost estimates.
