Abstract

Some of the most interesting encounters of field theory and statistical mechanics have been in recent years in the domain of disordered systems i.e. field theories with random couplings. Apart from occasional speculations about the relevance of such constructs for physics in the Planck scale or beyond, they have been used to model the coupling of impurities to (equilibrium) statistical systems.
