Abstract
Cerebral palsy (CP), a distinct nosological form sometimes called double athetosis or Little’s disease, was described by Little in 1862 and subsequently studied by C. Vogt and Oppenheim (1911). However, it should be noted that certain authors consider athetosis as only one type of CP. The disease is regarded as a severe, usually nonprogressing disorder of the CNS characterized by hyperkinesias and muscular hypertonia. The traditional term “palsy” in the name of this disease is arbitrary since weakness, as a rule, is not prominent.
