Abstract
The main objective and the ultimate aim of most stereotactic operations is the destruction of nuclei or pathways of the brain or spinal cord. In view of this, one of the most important problems of stereotactic surgery is the choice of the most effective, simplest, and safest method of destroying cerebral tissue. To a considerable degree, the reliability of a therapeutic operation and the incidence and gravity of postoperative complications depend on the lesion produced.
