Abstract
While some of the effects of renal failure on the nervous system have been recognized for many years, it is only since the development of dialysis and kidney transplantation that these conditions have become important topics for study by neurologists and nephrologists. Neurologic problems are no longer regarded only as late or terminal events in the course of uremia; the importance of this recognition is the potential for reversibility with early and adequate treatment.
