Abstract
For many years the treatment of vesicoureteral reflux has been regarded as an area that concerned the urologist and not the nephrologist. It has been assumed that treatment of this condition, if indicated, was surgical. However, the place of surgery in the treatment of vesicoureteral reflux remains controversial. The importance of medical management in the control of infection and of other complications has gained considerable support over recent years.
