Abstract
The very properties that make compressed gases, liquefied compressed gases, and cryogenic liquids useful in almost every area of modern life can also make them dangerous when mishandled. Some of these gases are stored in containers at high pressure, others at very low “cryogenic temperatures” (e.g., temperatures below —130°F or —90°C). Some are flammable, some are inert (which can pose hazards of asphyxiation due to displacement of air), others are oxidizers, while still others are corrosive or toxic.
