Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 282))

Abstract

Over the last decade there has been considerable literature generated concerning caregiver burden and the effects of intervention (Safford, 1980; Rabins 1982; Barnes, 1981; Davis, 1983; Beam, 1984; Zarit, 1985). This literature focuses primarily on the family as the caregiver and not the long-term care nurse or aide or the home health aide as the primary caregiver.
