Abstract

Cyclopiazonic acid is an indole-tetramic acid and produced by several species of fungi such as Penicillum cyclopium, P. patulum, P. viridicatum, P. puberulum, P. crustpsum, P. camembertii, Aspergillus flavus, A. versicolor, A. oryzae and A. tamarli.3,9 The toxin was first reported to occur naturally in corn4 and subsequently has been reported in cheese,6 peanuts,5 and kodo millet.11
