Abstract
Clostridium difficile was isolated from the feces of patients with pseudomembraneous colitis (PMC) and antibiotic - associated diarrhea (AAD).2,3,9,11 it was found that C. difficile produces at least two toxins, enterotoxin (toxin D-l) and cytotoxin. These toxins are detected in the stools of most patients suffering from pseudomembraneous colitis or antibiotic-associated diarrhea and in culture filtrates of the isolated C. difficile strains.12,15,16,17
