Growth and Erosion of Thin Solid Films

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((NSSB,volume 239))

Abstract

Both growth and erosion of thin films lead to microstructures that are complex, exhibiting fractal-like features. Theories to describe these processes are reviewed. In particular, the Eden model and the shadow model are discussed.
