Abstract
The paper of Rodewald and Willner has informed us about the history, aims, design and the state of the art of the International Study. Dahme & Goetze as well as Strauss & Paulsen have introduced three of the standardized psychiatric instruments used in the study and the latter have presented results obtained with two of these instruments, the Hamilton Scales, in one of the centers (Kiel, FRG). The purpose of this paper will be the presentation of global results (i.e. pre- and postoperative frequencies) based upon the Hamilton Depression Scale, the Hamilton Anxiety Scale and the Hamburg Rating Scale for Psychic Disturbances (HRPD) [1]. These results are based upon the preliminary analysis of the data obtained within the different centers which participate in the International Study.
