Abstract

Experiment 9.1: Characteristics of the STEM Detector. The following calculation uses the characteristics of a particular scintillator STEM detector on a fiber optic:
  • Detector area = 0.79 cm2

  • Specimen to detector distance = 5 cm

  • Solid angle Ω = area/(distance)2 =0.79 cm2/52 = 0.031 steradians
