Abstract
The importance of the survival of the sperm in the cervix after coitus was first described by Sims, the pioneer gynecologist, in 1866. In 1888 he further amplified the various causes for failure to find surviving sperm.1 In 1913, further details of testing were expounded by Huhner,2 and since that time the Sims—Huhner postcoital test has been widely accepted as an important tool in infertility diagnosis.
