Abstract
The 1970s was an era of revolution in infertility surgery, and in particular in surgery of the fallopian tubes. The development and the use of magnifying techniques, the understanding of the cause of and the development of techniques for the prevention of adhesion formation led to a marked improvement in results. A number of specialists have gained renown in the last decade with the excellence of their technique and their results. However, there is no reason why a well-trained gynecologic surgeon with an understanding of the pathophysiology involved and a knowledge of the principles of microsurgery, as well as some specialized training in the technique, cannot accomplish excellent results. In recent years a number of comprehensive reviews and texts have been published.1–4
