Abstract

On July 29th, 1988 one of the greatest scientific minds of our time, Myron L. Bender, passed away. On the occasion of this conference, one needs to look at his achievements which have led us to the understanding of enzymes and syntheses of molecules which can mimic real enzymes. He was recently able to produce a complete artificial enzyme from a thorough understanding of the structure and mechanism of action of a naturally occurring enzyme. An account of this achievement follows.
