Abstract
The free Schrodinger equation for collective multipole degrees of freedom is linearised so that energy and momentum operators appear only in first order. The wave functions solving the linearised equation carry a collective spin depending on multipolarity. For nuclear quadrupole surface degrees of freedom a scalar coupled collective potential and an additional spin-dependent potential are introduced and some aspects of even-odd nuclei are described.
