Abstract
David Kritchevsky has noted on a number of occasions that the first known dietary experiment is recorded in the book of Daniel (Chapter 1). In fact, the first dietary study was an apple-feeding experiment on the population of the whole world (Genesis). Unfortunately, the scientist involved was so preoccupied with rushing into print on its significance for moral fiber, he never did write up the consequences of ingestion of the dietary fiber.
