Abstract

In this chapter, the printed circuit board manufacturing tasks (Figure 116) where artificial intelligence (AI) could be or is applied are examined. In order for such tasks to be considered suited to the application of knowledge-based techniques (Chapter 8), the following conditions should be met:

  1. 1.

The tasks should already be computer controlled or computer aided to some extent.

  2. 2.

The payoff expectations should be high because of resulting savings and/or quality improvements through qualitative knowledge.
