Abstract

Seventeen of the eighty layer groups are mathematically isomorphic to the seventeen plane groups. Consequently, the irreducible representations and compatibility relations for the seventeen plane groups are identical with the irreducible representations and compatibility relations of these seventeen layer groups. In Table 30 we list the seventeen plane groups in the standard numbering and notation of the International Tables for Crystallography.1 Alongside each plane group we list the corresponding layer group.
