Abstract

Very often it becomes necessary to maintain a given water level in a tank or monitor water flow from a tank, through pipelines or in open channels. Flow control means having a knowledge of what the water requirements are to individual parts of the system and being able to adjust flow rates as required. This chapter explores various methods commonly used in the aquaculture industry for sensing and maintaining water levels in tanks or ponds, and for sensing and measuring water flow through conduits and channels.
