Abstract

The theory of spin polarization of Auger electrons is reviewed. Special attention is paid to the in-scattering plane components of the spin polarization vector. A simpler experiment is discussed. Within the LS coupling scheme, theoretical predictions for the spin polarization vector for Auger transitions on argon and krypton are given. A degree of spin polarization of up to 50% is predicted. Possible experimental set-ups are discussed.
