Abstract

Radiation-induced dissolution of hardening precipitates in structural materials is one of the major material pron=blems in reactor technology. For long range ordered γ (Ni3(Al,Ti)) precipitates in superalloys the dissolution process is coupled to the disordering inside the precipitate. From studies of this phenomenon a deeper insight in the ballistic atom transport and the atomic redistribution provided by the thermally activated migrating vacancies and interstitials can be expected. The present paper briefly sketches results and conclusions which were obtained during the recent years1–4.
