Thermal Helium Beam for Diagnostic of Electron Density and Temperature

Abstract

Plasma diagnostic based on the injection of a thermal helium or lithium beam is a well known diagnostic tool. The advantage of the He-beam diagnostic is a greater penetration depth because of higher ionization energy of the helium atoms and the possibility to built long term stable beam sources.
