First Results from Experiment NA49 at the Cern SPS with 158 eV/Nucleon Pb on Pb Collisions
CERN experiment NA49 had its first beam time in November/December 1994 with a 208Pb beam of 158 GeV/nucleon. The experimental setup to study Pb + Pb collisions is described and first results on two particle correlations and transverse energy production are discussed.
