Abstract
A computer model is presented, which permits the modeling of large-scale diagenetic evolution of sandstones resulting from mineral dissolution and precipitation. The model includes various mineralogical components and dissolved species which are major components of many sandstones. The model allows the simulation of temporal and spatial evolution of porosity and mineral distribution in a sandstone layer. Possible application to diagenetic problems is illustrated by several theoretical examples, representing different geological environments.
