Abstract
The oriental catfish, Plotosus lineatus, is one of the most dangerous venomous fishes known which occasionally causes death (Halstead, 1978). This fish is responsible for approximately many hundreds of envenomation to fishermen during handling in Suez Gulf and Red Sea. The envenomation, from P. lineatus, resulted in severe pain, numbness, fever, weakness, nausea, local paralysis and dizziness. In extreme cases there may be a massive edema involving the entire limb and gangrene of the area around wounds (Shiomi et al, 1986, 1987 and 1988 and Zerman, 1989).
