Abstract
As the President of the most important scientific organisation of the Bundes Republic of Germany, founded in September 1949, Otto Hahn inevitably met leading politicians of the new government. The first Bundes Chancellor and CDU Chairman, Konrad Adenauer, received Hahn and Heisenberg in Bonn on 12 December 1949. The problems of the research policy and the financial support of the newly founded Research Council were the official agenda.
