Abstract
At the University of Washington Academic Medical Center, a primary care physician logs into MINDscape (a Web-based electronic medical record) from her office and proceeds to the results of a recent radiological examination for one of her patients. Presented with an HTML list of radiology examinations (Figure 5.1), she selects one by clicking on its hyperlink. This takes her to the page with the radiology report she wants (Figure 5.2). On the report page is an icon representing the hyperlink to the associated set of radiological images for that exam. Selecting this hyperlink brings up a new multiframed window (Figure 5.3) that includes all image series generated during the exam, as well as associated patient and exam demographics, including the report. In addition, the radiologist has created a subset of relevant images with text and graphical annotations indicating the region of concern.
