Abstract

Electronic mail (or e-mail) was the first Internet application and is still the most popular one. E-mail is a way of sending messages between people or computers through networks of computer connections. E-mail is not limited to just the Internet. E-mail messages can be moved through gateways to other networks and systems, such as Compuserve or America Online. Many businesses already have an internal e-mail system and, with a little work by the employer, employees can send and receive messages from other businesses via the Internet.
