Abstract
The value of our plasma and tumor catecholamine studies in a large series of patients with pheochromocytoma deserves special attention and merits this separate chapter. Relatively few studies of plasma catecholamines in patients with pheochromocytoma have been reported and we wish to emphasize the remarkable diagnostic value and accuracy of plasma catecholamine determinations in detecting patients with this tumor. In addition, correlative studies between blood pressure and plasma and tumor catecholamines may improve our understanding of the patterns of hypertension encountered, and may also shed light on secretion characteristics of these neoplasms.
