Cerebral revascularization for stroke in evolution

Abstract

Stroke in evolution (SIE) is defined here as gradual, progressive, or stepwise onset of neurologic deficit occurring over the course of several hours, days, weeks, or even months. With increasing experience in the field of cerebral ischemia, it becomes clear that our concepts of completed or irreversible stroke may have to be revised. Incomplete or slowly progressive deficits may arrest or resolve spontaneously or following microsurgical cerebral revascularization.
