Abstract
The study of a natural or artificial language is traditionally split into three areas:

(i)
Syntax: This deals with the form, shape, structure etc. of the various expressions in the language.

(ii)
Semantics: This deals with the meaning of the language.

(iii)
Pragmatics: This deals with the uses of the language.
