Abstract
The literature on this disease picture fills volumes. Even the definition is disputed. This is not the place to deal with theoretical problems, but the following features of the disease are of practical importance:
-
1)
This neurogenic (and sometimes psychogenic), abacterial, inflammatory circulatory disorder may be a sequel to injury, depending on individual disposition.
-
2)
The disease is potentiated by pain.
-
3)
It affects all the tissues.
-
4)
Remission is possible in stages I and II of the disease.
-
5)
The disease may lead to the complete functional disability of the hand in stage III.
