Abstract
A review of heart surgery and a discussion of its future perspectives constitute two interesting topics, although retrospection — necessary for the evaluation of our knowledge — may create a non-merited self-satisfaction and projections based on our hopes for the 21st century may create a sophisticated delerium worthy of the best science fiction works.
