Smooth Muscle Cells in Atherosclerosis

  • Conference paper
Atherosclerosis V

Abstract

This report is an overview of current certain and reasonably certain knowledge of arterial smooth muscle (SM) in the atherosclerotic process. An attempt is made to integrate this information into modern concepts and hypotheses of the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and to suggest areas of controversy or uncertainty that may merit further study. For brevity only a small number of selected, mainly review-type references are included; a more complete bibliography on the subject is available from the authors’.
