Drug Treatment of Hyperlipidemias

  • Conference paper
Atherosclerosis V

Abstract

Drug treatment of hyperlipidemia has advanced markedly over the last two decades. Whereas earlier efforts were aimed at reduction of either cholesterol or triglyceride levels (usually the former), today drugs are tested for their effects on specific types of hyperlipidemia and on enrichment or depletion of specific lipoprotein fractions.

Supported, in part, by grants HL-03299, HL-05209 and HL-23625 and a Research Career Award from the National Institutes of Health.
