Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview of landscape geochemistry as it has been outlined in Part II as a preliminary to the description of applications of the discipline given in Part III.

“When situations arise such that a non-surficial geochemist finds it difficult to understand why one technique in exploration geochemistry is successful while another is not, the cause is often due to the fact that some of the actors involved have not developed a sufficient expertise in landscape geochemistry as a whole.”

R. J. Allan, In book review of Conceptual Models in Exploration Geochemistry: The Canadian Cordillera and Canadian Shield (compiled and edited by P. M. D. Bradshaw) Chemical Geology, vol. 18, 1976, pp. 245–246.
