Abstract

Heather Danes’ father is a research scientist. Her mother, who was a graduate of the Sorbonne, was for many years a university lecturer. Her only brother was born three years before her. She was an enormously vital girl with an enthusiastic interest in sports, and considerable academic ability. In addition, she was a highly social creature.
