Abstract
Nonverbal communication is important in all human interaction but it is especially so in therapy. Psychotherapy is a broad field that includes different styles and schools of treatment for emotional and mental problems, all designed to alleviate the distress felt by the client and to make it possible for the client to change. In most therapy situations, the relationship between client and therapist is an important tool for treatment and nonverbal communication is an important part of that relationship. The nuances of such a relationship are often negotiated in the subtle, nonverbal communications exchanged by the therapist and client.
