Abstract

During the past decade cognitive psychologists have explored how prose is represented in memory. Many of the representational theories have been influenced by theoretical advances in other areas in cognitive science. Linguistics and artificial intelligence have been particularly influential. Of course, psychological theories have specific goals that set them apart from the sister sciences.
