Abstract

This chapter deals with the anatomy of the blood supply and the normal and abnormal vascular responses of the synovial membrane and capsule of joints and with the circulation to tendons. The articular cartilage is without vessels and derives its nutrients by diffusion. (For comparable data on the bony elements of the joints, see Sections A and B, Chapter 3.)
